Citizenship & Reflections Programs

Kansas PTA Citizenship Program & National PTA Reflections Program

    Citizenship Program

The 2016 Citizenship theme is "My generation can change the world by..."

Kansas PTA is proud to sponsor, support, and encourage Kansas students in grades 5-12 to write an essay or poem on the selected theme. The theme changes every year as it encourages our students to think about various aspects of citizenship.

We've made it easy to implement the Citizenship program at your school. Everything you need including rules, submission forms and judging rubrics, can be found in the 2016-2017 Arts and Awards Packet.

    Reflections Program

The 2016-2017 theme is “What is Your Story?”

The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts in an educational way. Through the program, National PTA and PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice — dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography or visual arts — reflecting on a specific theme.

There also is a special artist division to provide all students the opportunity to participate in the program. Submissions are reviewed by experts in the visual, literary and performing arts, and students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful.
