Hello, my name is Brian Hogsett and I’m very excited to serve as the new Vice President of Advocacy. I grew up in the Shawnee Mission School District. I was a 3rd generation graduate of SM North. I’ve been married to my wife, Jackie, for 22 years this October. We currently live in Overland Park and I have two awesome kids that attend SM South. My oldest son attended elementary and middle school in Overland Park and graduated from Ottawa High School.

I have served as a Legislative Chair at the elementary and middle school units as well as for Shawnee Mission Area Council. I’ve also been involved with the Kansas PTA Advocacy Team state levels over the course since 2012. I am also a board member for NAMI Johnson County and am the designated Advocacy Representative. Needless to say, I’ve been involved in advocacy for quite a long time. My passion is for influencing positive change through voter education, establishing productive relationships with decision makers, and keeping people informed of how current events impact our everyday lives. I look forward to serving!

Jackie has been involved with PTA for 32 yrs. She has served every position at her local PTA through the years multiple times. She is currently serving as treasurer for her local PTA. She has also served on the state board through the years as safety chair, Region VP, Secretary, VP of Advocacy, President elect, and state President. She has worked for the school district for 30 years, currently as the principal’s secretary. We need to get the word out that PTA is still here and advocating for children. More voices to get out the word on education.

During Rachel’s time on the Kansas PTA Board of Managers, she has served as the National PTA Emerging Minority Leaders Delegate, Kansas PTA Secretary (2015-17), and Diversity and Inclusion Chair (2016). Prior to joining the state board, Rachel was PTSA President at Frances Willard Elementary (2014-15) in KCK receiving the NPTA’s School of Excellence Designation while serving. Rachel is currently employed at Literacy KC, a local non-profit in the KC area. Rachel is also a proud AmeriCorps VISTA alum. Rachel has a strong passion for public service and the ability to make a lasting impact in the community through volunteerism. When she isn’t working or volunteering, you can find her cheering on the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, and Kansas Jayhawks or enjoying time with friends and family.
